The score does not reflect the game on the field

The match against the Tigres was what I consider a very good match. The pases were crisp, the runs were strong and the defense played well. With the exception of some mistakes this match could of easily been a draw or win for RSC. If we play this type of match every game more times that less we should be on the winning side of the W/L column. Of note Frankie, Atilla and Mike shined in the game with some great runs and defensive stops. With Carlos anchoring the defense they played an aggresive smart D and Izzy and the boys upfront were creating chances and feeding the ball when they needed. Its all you can ask for. If we play this exact type of game for the rest of the season minus the mistakes we will be tough to beat!

Final Score 0-3

Joga Bonito

After going in a 3 game winless streak it was great to finally get a win. With the Los gatos Soccer team only fielding 9 players. As you would imagine we had to take care of business and we did. We were able to slow the pace down, string several passes together, maintain possession and consistently attack. It was joga bonito!

To give the the Los Gatos Soccer club some credit they played 2 players down the entire match but played with heart and tenacity the entire game.

Final score 5-0

USA vs. China

This should be an interesting match up as the US prepares for the Gold Cup and Copa America. Any one plan on going to the game? Team BBQ? :)

U.S. men prepare for Gold Cup against China

The United States could show off a few fresh faces when it plays China on Saturday in its final tune up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The roster for Saturday's game in San Jose, Calif., has 13 players who will play in the Gold Cup, including 11 European-based players. The U.S. begins defense of its Gold Cup crown on June 7. But coach Bob Bradley also added a number of younger players for the friendly.

'Bringing this group to San Jose accomplishes two important goals,' Bradley said. 'First, we get excellent preparation for many of the players who will help defend our Gold Cup title beginning next week. Second, we get the chance to introduce some exciting young prospects to the senior national team and give them a taste of what this experience is all about. There isn't a better place to perform both those tasks than in front of the great soccer fans in San Jose.'

Picture perfect

Like I've heard in the past its not how you play the game but how good you look doing it! In that light the pictures from our staff photographer/player Bill Numann, were just fabulous. After many hours of chopping, cropping, image enhancements, superimposing photos etc... We actually look great! Once again a special thanks to Bill.

On that note I'd like to mention Peters shot of winning the header over the Tigres player gets my vote for best shot! What's your favorite??

*pictures will be posted on the website very soon....

RSC Fights to the end!!

The game was hard fought tooth and nail from start to finish and although we ended up on the wrong side of the score sheet. We can take home that we played with heart the whole game. Basically, to sum up the game we played well enough to win but we couldn't take advantage of the opportunities we had.

The first half was once again a good show by us and we played quite effectively on both sides of the ball. The defense was hard fought with Peter, Carlos, Frankie, Bobby, Mario and Joe playing an aggressive style defense which consistently stopped the opposing teams attacks. On the offensive side we had many opportunities to try and create some scoring opportunities but we just came short when it came to shots on goal!

Half time score 0-0

Second half we still were in the game but the opposing team got a bit more crafty, capitalized on our mistakes and were able to score a couple of early goals. We played tight until Jeff had a corner kick which Atilla was able to put enough on it to head it into the goal! We nearly had another goal as Mike took the ball down the right side of the field, maneuvered past a couple of defenders and laid a strike right past the goal. It looked in but the angle was a bit to much and the ball zoomed by the left goal post. The game still was pretty heated all the way until the end but we were just not able to tie the game up.

Final score 2-1 loss

* on a journalistic note. Last weeks game was against the Tigres although the match on SBASL stated Guadalajara. In the future I will be more careful with my sources..

Up Next Guadalajara

In most cases thoughts of Mexico bring the thoughts of warm, sunny beaches, a cold Tecate in your hands, great hospitatilty and culture, delicious food and an overall relaxing, leisure filled time. That being the case I was interested in our next opponents home city of Guadaljara, Mexico. In order to beat your opponenet it is crucial to know their strategy, history, formation etc.. or in this case you may just be interested in a new vacation spot in Mexico. More information after the Jump. Click here

After last games loss its time to step up and show some mettle and resolve and come on top on this next week. I for one am fired up to get this game on with the Chivas.
